British India Half Rupee 1945 silver coin from the Lahore Mint, issued during the reign of King George VI. The obverse features the crowned portrait of King George VI facing left with the inscription GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, designed by engraver Percy Metcalfe. The reverse displays HALF RUPEE INDIA 1945 within an ornate floral wreath featuring roses, thistle, shamrock and lotus flowers, together with the Persian inscription Hasht Aanay, meaning eight annas. The L mint mark below the date identifies the coin as a Lahore Mint issue. This type was struck in 50% silver and has a distinctive security edge.
