British India Half Rupee 1945 silver coin from the Bombay Mint, issued during the reign of King George VI. The obverse features the crowned portrait of King George VI facing left with the inscription GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, designed by engraver Percy Metcalfe. The reverse displays HALF RUPEE INDIA 1945 within an ornate floral wreath featuring roses, thistle, shamrock and lotus flowers, with the Persian inscription Hasht Aanay, meaning eight annas. The dot mint mark below the date identifies the Bombay Mint issue. This coin was struck in 50% silver and features a distinctive security edge.
