United Kingdom 2011 50 Pence Olympic Equestrian Coin

This 2011 United Kingdom 50 Pence Olympic Equestrian coin was issued as part of the London 2012 Olympic Games commemorative 50p series. The reverse features a detailed design of a horse and rider jumping over two fences, representing the Olympic equestrian sport, with the London 2012 Olympic logo above and the denomination 50 PENCE below. The design was created by Thomas Babbage and was selected through a nationwide public competition. The obverse features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank Broadley. The coin was released into general circulation and is an interesting collectible for British and Olympic coin collectors.
