British India Half Rupee 1943 silver coin from the Bombay Mint issued during the reign of King George VI. The obverse features the crowned portrait of King George VI facing left with the inscription GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, designed by Percy Metcalfe. The reverse displays HALF RUPEE INDIA 1943 within an elaborate floral wreath featuring roses, thistle, shamrock and lotus flowers, together with the Persian inscription Hasht Aanay, meaning eight annas. The small dot mint mark below the date identifies this variety as a Bombay Mint issue. The coin was struck in 50% silver and features a security edge. The 1943 Bombay issue is listed with a mintage of approximately 90,400,000 pieces.
