Alwar State One Rupee of Mangal Singh 1882 AD Victoria Empress Silver Coin

This Alwar State One Rupee 1882 is a silver coin issued during the reign of Maharaja Mangal Singh (1874–1892) of Alwar State. It features the crowned left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria, with the legend “VICTORIA EMPRESS” on the obverse. The reverse carries the Persian inscription “Maharao Raja Sawai Mangal Singh Bahadur”, with the date 1882 inside the central circle. The surrounding English legends read “ONE RUPEE” and “ALWAR STATE”, accompanied by decorative wreaths. This is KM#45, part of the Alwar Victoria Empress Rupee series issued from 1877 to 1882. The coin was struck in .917 fine silver, with a standard weight of approximately 11.66 grams, diameter of 31.5 mm, and a milled edge. The 1882 issue had a reported mintage of approximately 206,000 pieces.

Condition:
this particular specimen appears to be around Fine to Very Fine (F–VF), with noticeable surface marks, scratches, toning/discoloration and signs of circulation. The major design elements and inscriptions remain clearly visible.
