Alwar State 1 Rupee 1880 AD Mangal Singh Victoria Empress Silver Coin

Alwar State 1 Rupee 1880 silver coin issued during the reign of Maharaja Mangal Singh (1874–1892). The obverse features the crowned left-facing bust of Queen Victoria, with the legend “VICTORIA EMPRESS.” The reverse displays the Persian inscription referring to Maharao Raja Sawai Mangal Singh Bahadur, with the date 1880 in Persian numerals. The outer legends read “ONE RUPEE” and “ALWAR STATE”, with decorative branches on either side. This is KM#45, part of the Alwar Victoria Empress Rupee series dated 1877–1882. The coin was struck at the Calcutta Mint in silver of approximately .917 fineness.

Condition:
This specimen appears to be approximately Very Fine to Extra Fine (VF–EF). It shows noticeable circulation wear, surface scratches and toning, while the major portrait, Persian inscription and date remain clearly identifiable.
