United Kingdom 2 Pounds 2006 commemorative coin issued to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the renowned British engineer. The reverse depicts Brunel with one of his engineering achievements, surrounded by a chain design, with TWO POUNDS above and 2006 below. The obverse features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley with the inscription ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REG FID DEF. This bimetallic circulating £2 coin was issued by the Royal Mint as part of the 2006 Brunel commemorative series. The Royal Mint records two separate Brunel £2 designs in 2006, and this specimen is the Brunel portrait and engineering achievements design.
