Bombay Presidency 1/4 Anna 1830 Copper Coin

Bombay Presidency 1/4 Anna 1830 copper coin issued during the period of William IV by the British East India Company. The obverse features the East India Company coat of arms with two lions, flags and the inscription EAST INDIA COMPANY, with the date 1830 below. The reverse displays a pair of balanced scales with the Persian word Adil, meaning “Just” or “Justice,” and the Hijri date 1246 below, with QUARTER ANNA above. This coin was struck at the Bombay Mint and belongs to the early mechanically produced copper coinage of the Bombay Presidency. It is a historically significant colonial Indian coin and an interesting addition to a British India or East India Company collection.
