These are two original vintage 20 Rupees banknotes from India, issued under the governorship of S. Jagannathan (RBI Governor: 1970-1975).
Obverse Details
Features the “Reserve Bank of India” and “Guaranteed by the Central Government” inscriptions at the top.
The denomination “20” is prominently displayed in English and Hindi, with the Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right side.
The promise text reads: “I promise to pay the bearer the sum of Twenty Rupees,” and bears the signature of Governor S. Jagannathan beneath.
Serial numbers and block details are visible on both notes.
Reverse Details
Depicts the Indian Parliament House at the center with intricate line-work and artistic detailing.
The left panel has the Hindi language guarantee and the right bears the denomination along with a watermark area.
“TWENTY RUPEES” and “बीस रुपये” are printed at the bottom.
