Sri Lanka 1000 Rupees of 2009 Low Serial Number Folder Issue Unc Note

This is Sri Lanka’s 1,000 Rupees “Peace and Prosperity in Sri Lanka” commemorative banknote of 20 May 2009, issued by the Central Bank and commonly supplied in a presentation folder.

Obverse: Multicolour design with map outline of Sri Lanka, traditional “punkalasa” (vase of plenty), rays of a rising sun, security features, and the then‑president giving a victory salute, with date 2009‑05‑20 and denomination “1000 Rupees.”

Reverse: Soldiers raising the national flag in a scene echoing the Iwo Jima photograph, set against Thoppigala rock, warships and aircraft, symbolizing the end of the civil war and national unity.
