This is an authentic Portuguese India 1/2 Tanga coin dated 1901 (MCMI), issued under Carlos I of Portugal and struck at the Lisboa Mint. Made of bronze, the obverse features the right-facing portrait of the king with the legend “CARLOS I REI DE PORTUGAL,” while the reverse displays the crowned Portuguese coat of arms with “INDIA PORTUGUEZA” and denomination “1/2 TANGA.”

This coin circulated in Goa during Portuguese rule and is part of the colonial Indo-Portuguese currency system.
